Kurt Ballou

Guitarist and sonic architect of Converge. Ballou is an audio mad scientist who designs and builds his own custom distortion pedals and studio hardware (GodCity Instruments). His engineering approach is laser-focused on maximizing harmonic aggression while maintaining pristine instrument articulation.

Massive wall-of-sound guitar saturation with piercing bite, thunderous bass presence, surgically crisp snare crack, and visceral dynamic weight that transformed modern extreme hardcore, grindcore, and post-metal.
